Formula 1, Race Calender, Teams and Drivers: Season 2009
|
2009-03-25
On coming week-end (27.3.2009-29.3.2009) the new Formula 1 season starts with the Grand Prix in Melbourne. This year we have many new innovations. Many experts speak even from the most comprehensive technical changes of modern Formula 1 history. The new aerodynamics rules as well as the return of slicks should provide for more overtaking manoeuvre.
Very fast in the test runs was "Brawn GP", the follow-up team of Honda. The cars of Ferrari and Renault were also strong. However, world champion Lewis Hamilton was at the test runs with the new McLaren Mercedes (MP4-24) consistently one second behind the fastest drivers. Test runs during the season are not allowed this year. Maybe an additional disadvantage for Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen.
Who becomes Formula 1 world champion 2009? Favourite for the bookies is Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen (best odd at Interwetten with 5.00). Title holder Lewis Hamilton (odd 7.50 at Sportingbet) counts as well as Felipe Massa (odd 6.50 at Bet365) and Fernando Alonso (odd 6.60 at Sportingbet) to the co-favourites. Also good chances have Jenson Button (odd 10.00 at Interwetten) and Robert Kubica (10.00 at Sportingbet).
