Three goals in the last 16 minutes earned Bosnia-Herzegovina a 4:2 win over Belgium. Bosnia's victory gave them nine points from five matches in European Zone Group 5, two points ahead of Belgium, who have also played five games.

Romania vs. Serbia
0 - 1 17' M. Jovanovic, 0 - 2 44' D. Stoica (OG), 1 - 2 C. Marica 50', 1 - 3 59' B. Ivanovic, 2 - 3 D. Stoica 74'

Serbia stayed top of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa qualifying Group 7 by claiming a thrilling 3-2 win away to Romania in Constanta. The Romanians' first defeat in the Black Sea resort was sealed by strikes from Milan Jovanovic and Branislav Ivanovic and an own goal from Dorel Stoica, who also scored at the other end. Serbia have 12 points from five matches, while Romania have four points from as many games.

Jovanovic swept in a rebound in the 18th minute after Milos Krasic had hit the post. Stoica then put through his own goal following a 44th-minute corner before Ciprian Marica pulled a goal back for Romania with a delightful lob five minutes into the second period.

Ivanovic restored Serbia's two-goal lead with an acrobatic close-range volley. Stoica replied for the home team by turning in an Adrian Mutu free-kick in the 74th minute.

Lithuania vs. France
0 - 1 67' F. Ribéry

Franck Ribery scored the decisive goal as France kept their 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa qualifying hopes alive with a 1-0 win away to Lithuania. Ribery found the back of the net in the 67th minute with a powerful 20-metre drive after being set up by playmaker Yoann Gourcuff.

"This win is very important for us. We all had a good match. We fought on a bad pitch," Ribery told French TV channel TF1.

Northern Ireland vs. Poland
1 - 0 W. Feeney 10', 1 - 1 27' I. Jelen, 2 - 1 J. Evans 47', 3 - 1 M. Zewlakow (OG) 61', 3 - 2 90' M. Saganowski

Northern Ireland boosted their 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa qualifying prospects with a 3-2 win over Poland in Belfast. Northern Ireland have 10 points from six matches but have played more games than all of their group rivals. Poland have seven points from five games.

"All the lads from back to front were phenomenal. We are happy with the result and I think we deserved it". Said Warren Feeney.

Argentina vs. Venezuela
L. Messi 26' 1 - 0, C. Tévez 47' 2 - 0, Maxi Rodríguez 52' 3 - 0, S. Agüero 73' 4 - 0

Argentina, inspired by Lionel Messi, celebrated Diego Maradona's home and competitive debut as coach by beating Venezuela 4-0 in a 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa qualifier.

The win left Argentina with 19 points from 11 games in the South American group, four behind leaders Paraguay. Argentina depended heavily on Messi for inspiration and the Barcelona player created their first real chance in the 25th minute when he jinked his way to the byline, but nobody could connect with his cross.

Mexico vs. Costa Rica
O. Bravo 19' 1 - 0, P. Pardo (PG) 52' 2 - 0

Mexico were the only winners on the second matchday of CONCACAF's final round of qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. Group leaders the United States only barely avoided ignominious defeat down in Central America, scoring twice in the last quarter-hour to draw with El Salvador, while Trinidad and Tobago pulled off their own last-gasp heroics to take a point against Honduras in Port of Spain.
