Football, Italy, Serie A: Championship open again?

2009-04-27
Five games from the end of the season AC Milan can hope again: The victory at San Siro against Palermo (3-0) has reopened, at least in theory, the championship. The rossoneri find themselves at only seven points distance from their local concurrents Inter, but with the difference that Milan seems to be in a state of grace at the moment, and with a player like Kakà who has regained his top form, everything is possible.

Anyway Inter can't allow themselves other games like the one at San Paolo against Napoli, seemingly without ambition, otherwise they risk to see their advantage disappear and Milan will get even closer. On the other hand José Mourinho is certainly right when he reminds that it would be sufficient for Inter to win their remaining three games at home to end all discussions and win the scudetto. but in order to do so another attitude than the one shown against Napoli will be necessary.

In the lower regions of the Serie A nothing is decided yet - Bologna has managed to get that precious victory against Genoa, but at the same time also their direct concurrents Torino and Lecce have won their games. Torino has therefore managed to keep the distance from Bologna (-1 point) and from Lecce (-3 points).

In the UEFA Cup zone Genoa and Roma have logically defended their places despite their defeats (0-2 in Bologna for Genoa, 1-4 in Florence for AS Roma), but Roma will have to pay attention in order not to lose their place to Cagliari who has only three points less than the giallorossi.

As you can see, nothing is decided yet in this championship and we can surely look forward to another five interesting Serie A games...
