27-year-old Austrian striker
Stefan Maierhofer made the move to
Wolverhampton Wanderers today. Wolves boss Mick Mccarthy payed an undisclosed fee to acquire the frontman from Austrian club Rapid Vienna on August 31. In last year's Bundesliga,
Maierhofer will look to improve on the Wolves' attack that has only managed to score twice in their first four Premier League Games.
Maierhofer helped
Rapid Vienna secure the 2007-2008 title by scoring 7 goals in 11 games toward the end of the season. In 2008-2009 he improved on that mark by finishing 27 goals in 35 games. Maierhofer stands 6-foot 7-inches and will try to make an impact on the aerial assault in much the same way that Peter Crouch has at Tottenham Hotspur. If Wolverhampton are to try to remain in the Premiership past this season, they will need the help of every new signing they can acquire.
