A new trio for the Turkish National football team – Mircea Lucescu, Ertuğrul Sağlam, Hakan Şükür

2009-10-15

After the resign of Fatih Terim the Turkish Football Federation is looking for a new trio, which should manage the national football team. Mircea Lucescu should be the head coach, Ertuğrul Sağlam the assistant coach and Hakan Şükür the manager of the Turkish team.
If we can believe in the reports, Mircea Lucescu has accepted the offer of the Turkish Football Federation.

A short resume of this trio:

Mircea
Lucescu:
Mircea Lucescu started his professional career in Bucharest in 1961. In 1963 he went to Dinamo Bucharest and had his debut in 1964 for Dinamo. After a short excurse to the 2nd division he came back to Dinamo and played until 1977 for them. In 1977 Mircea Lucescu was transferred to Corvinul Hunedoara - it was not a good season and Corvinul Hunedoara was not able to stay in the 1st division. In 1978 he started his carreer as player and coach - it was a full success and Corvinul Hunedoara was again in the 1st division. In 1982/83 Mircea Lucescu started his job as coach of the rumanian national team. He has reached with the national team the EURO in 1984. After missing to qualify for the World Cup in 1986, Emerich Jenei take over the office of Mircea Lucescu.
After 1986 Mircea Lucescu was the coach of several teams in Romania, Italy, Turkey and Ukraine - his greatest victories in those leagues:
1989/90 Champion in the Romanian league with Rapid Bucharest
1997/98 Cup Winner in the Romanian league with Rapid Bucharest
1988/99 Champion in the Romanian league with Rapid Bucharest
1999/00 Winner of the European Super Cup with Galatasaray
2001/02 Champion in the Turkish League with Galatasaray
2002/03 Champion in the Turkish League with Beşiktaş
2004/05 Champion in the Ukraine league with Sahtar Donez
2005/06 Champion in the Ukraine league with Sahtar Donez
2006/07 Champion and Cup Winner in the Ukraine league with Sahtar Donez
2008/09 UEFA Cup Winner with Sahtar Donez

Hakan Şükür:
I don't have to tell, that Hakan Şükür was one of the best Turkish striker in the last years. He has scored 270 goals in his professional career and was called "the King". There is no need to describe Hakan Şükür any longer - everybody who is interested in the Turkish football knows him already - but I want to publish some details of his glamorous career:
In 1993, 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2006 and 2008 he won the Turkish League with Galatasaray
In 1988, 1993, 1996, 1999, 2000 and 2005 he won the Turkish Cup (in 1988 with Sakaryaspor, the other years with Galatsaray)
In 2000 he won with Galatasaray the UEFA Cup and was the top scorer of the tournament.
In 2002 Hakan Şükür won the Italian Cup with the FC Parma
From 1997 to 1999 he was 3 times in a row the top scorer of the Turkish League.
In 1997 he has been chosen by the IFHHS to the best forward in the world
I believe that Hakan Şükür will be a very successful manager - like in his active football career.

Ertuğrul Sağlam:
The professional career of Ertuğrul Sağlam started in 1986/87 with the transfer from the youth team of Fenerbahçe to Gaziantepspor. In 1988 he moved to Samsunspor and was one of the young stars in the Turkish League. In 1994/95 Beşiktaş has transferred Ertuğrul Sağlam. He played until 2000 for Beşiktaş and has finished his active career at Beşiktaş. In the season 2004/05 Ertuğrul Sağlam came back to the football scene as the coach of Samsunspor. The next station of the young coach was Kayserispor. From 2005 to 2007 he was the successful coach from Kayserispor and reached a UEFA Cup starter-position in the Turkish League. In 2007 he came back to Beşiktaş as coach. This season he has a great performance as coach of Bursaspor.
