Unlike other big nations (like
France or
Portugal)
Marcello Lippi's
Italy has managed to qualify directly for the
2010 World Cup in Southafrica, finishing on the first place of their group infront of Ireland. Therefore this saturday the italians will only play a
friendly game against
Holland (
sat 14 nov., 8:50 p.m.in Pescara).
For the
Azzurri there will be two debutants on the field:
Davide Biondini (Cagliari) and
Antonio Candreva (Livorno). Marcello Lippi has already declared that the team for Southafrica is ready, it is therefore very unlikely that after the two friendly games of this week (saturday against Holland and on wednesday against Sweden in Cesena) the coach will still call someone in the team.
We won't see Roma player
Daniele De Rossi against Holland, he will have to make a two weeks break after his injury in the match against Inter. He'll be substituted by Fiorentina player
Riccardo Montolivo. But we will see another Rossi, namely
Villareal player
Giuseppe Rossi...
For Italy this game would be a nice occasion to take revenge for the bitter
0-3 defeat at the Euro 2008, but I'm not sure if they will manage to do so, as ultimately Holland has played two excellent away games - a 0-0 draw in Australia and a victory in Scotland (1-0).
I think this game will finish with a nice draw, the
correct score might be
1-1, in this case
