Group B leaders
Manchester United travel to Germany to face
VFL Wolfsburg, who are in danger of being overtaken by 3rd place
CSKA Moscow. This is the first Champions League appearance for the German club and they have surpassed all expectations. With a win at home they will take 1st place in the group, provided that CSKA do not get 3 points in their matchup with Besiktas. Wolves will be highly motivated against the English giants and manager
Armin Veh will hold nothing back in this key match. Strikers
Grafite and
Dzeko have been performing well both domestically and in Europe. New signing Obafemi Martins is out with an injury, but these two strikers will make up for his absence. Expect them to start the match with an attacking approach to quickly take control of this game.
Although currently leading the group by 3 points,
Manchester United will need to get something from this match to ensure top spot in Group B. Ferguson has big problems in the back with Ferdinand, Vidic, Neville, Evans and O'Shea all unavailable. Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick will fill in the gaps at defense, so the Red Devils' back line will be shaky at best.
Michael Owens will likely start up front with both Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbetov not included in the squad going to Germany. United's 2nd string single handedly shut down Tottenham Hotspur in the Carling Cup last week and should not be underestimated.
Armin Veh will try to exploit United's weak defense with his strong core of attackers at the
Volkswagen Arena. Manchester, who are fielding a 2nd string will have major problems trying to contain the attacking duo of Dzeko and Grafite. With the added motivation to secure their place in the knockout stages, Wolves should impress in front of a packed home stadium.
