Now, that half of the season 2009/2010 in Spains Primera Division is played, it's time for a little recapitulation of what happened untill now.
On the first place of the league is the FC Barcelona with 49 points, followed by Real Madrid with 44 points and the FC Valencia with 39 points.
FC Barcelona is the only team of the spanish league, which hasn't lost a game in the current season (15 wins, 4 draws). The catalan team also scored the most goals (49) and has with Lionel Messi, who untill now scored 15 times, the most effective striker. Messi is followed by David Villa, forward of FC Valencia, who striked 14 goals. Furthermore, FC Barcelona, is the team which received the less amount of goals (10).
Real Madrid – five points after the FC Barcelona – is besides Real Mallorca (34 points, place 4) the only team which has won all of their home games. But in contrary to the big rival from Barcelona, Madrid won just 14 points in their away games (10 less than the Catalans). Cristiano Ronaldo, the new superstar of Real Madrid scored until now 9 times. Most effective striker of the merengues is Gonzalo Higuain with 11 goals.
Although you should never say never, it would be very difficult for FC Valencia to become the new spanish champion. Now 10 points after FC Barcelona and in contrary to the catalan club with just 34 goals striked but 18 received. It looks like the fight for the title will be one more time a duel between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
On the last place of the Primera Division is Deportivo Xerez with eight points. Of their nineteen games, Deportivo Xerez won just one, tied five and lost thirteen. In total, Xerez scored eight goals and received 34.
