Just 10 minutes into the first Quarterfinal,
Robinho slotted home the first goal after Felipe Melo split the defense with a world-class pass. The game looked to be going in
Brazil's favor for most of the 1st half.
Just 8 minutes into the 2nd half, Brazil shot themselves in the foot, heading home an own goal off of a
Wesley Sneijder cross. Momentum then picked up for the Dutch until the 68' when Sneijder gave La Oranje the lead from
Arjen Robben's corner.
Felipe Melo was awarded a red card in the 73' after a late challenge on Robben. Both sides had many good chances after this but the score remained 2-1, putting
Netherlands into it's first
World Cup Semi-Final since 1978.
