Despite having finished 7th place in the EPL last year and failing to get any trophies,
Liverpool have shown some positive signs for the upcoming season.
After Rafa Benitez was handed his walking papers, Fulham boss
Roy Hodgson stepped in to take the reigns. Having an Englishman as the team's figurehead has improved the mood of many Kopites.
3 signings have been made since Hodgson's arrival:
Joe Cole on a free transfer from Chelsea,
Milan Jovanovic on a free transfer from Standard Liege and
Danny Wilson for a 2-million pound fee from Glasgow Rangers.
Signing new arrivals was never as important as keeping ahold of Liverpool's disenchanted stars. Yossi Benayoun was the first to go and Javier Mascherano appears to be right behind him, but Hodgson has done well to keep
Steven Gerrard and
Jamie Carragher committed to the club.
Fernando Torres remains the final obstacle after having been linked with transfers to Chelsea and Manchester City. Hodgson claims to see positive signs and believes the Spanish international will stay with Liverpool.
There is an air of optimism in
Liverpool now as the Reds go forward to try and reclaim their place with the top clubs of Europe.
