On Saturday (
17.1.2009, start: 12:30) the downhill classic in Wengen stands on the programme. The “Lauberhorn”-race is the longest downhill-course in the Alpine Ski World Cup. Last year the American Bode Miller won in the time 2:30.40 minutes.
Four races are already finished this season in the downhill world cup. The present seasonal winners: Peter Fill (Lake Louise), Aksel Lund Svindal (Beaver Creek), Michael Walchhofer (Gröden) and Christian Innerhofer (Bormio). In the downhill discipline world cup Michael Walchhofer leads with 225 points. Second is Klaus Kröll with 215 points.
In the first training on Wednesday Didier Cuche was the fastest racer on the course. On places two till five followed Andrej Jerman (SLO), Didier Defago (SUI), Klaus Kröll (AUT) and Manuel Osborne-Paradis (CAN). In the second training (Thursday) Andrej Jerman was on first place. With it Jerman counts besides Michael Walchhofer, Bode Miller and Didier Cuche to the favourites.
