The Super-G (
Wednesday, 4.2.2009, start: 11:00 am) on the legendary track „La face de Bellevarde“ is the first Men race of the Alpine Ski World Championships 2009 in Val d´Isere.
There are many favorites for the Super-G on Wednesday. In present four season races we have four different winners: Hermann Maier (Lake Louise), Aksel Lund Svindal (Beever Creek), Werner Heel (Gröden) and Klaus Kröll (Kitzbühel). In the discipline World Cup Hermann Maier leads with 231 points. Second is Aksel Lund Svindal with 212 and third-placed is Didier Defago with 210 points. Beside this named racers also Bode Miller, Didier Cuche and Michael Walchhofer have good chances.
At the last FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2007 in Aare the Italian racer Patrick Staudacher won the gold medal. Second was Fritz Strobl (AUT) and third was Bruno Kernen (SUI). From these three racers only the titleholder Staudacher is this time on start. Whether does he manage recently a sensation?
