The 2nd leg of the round of last 16 sees the duel between the high relegation endangered AS St. Etienne and the also dissappointing team of SV Werder Bremen. AS ranked after 28 rounds of the Ligue 1 in position 18 and therefore on a relegationplace.
But the French shows their true face in the last round of the UEFA-Cup when they beat the greek nominee Olympiakos Piraeus in Greece 3:1 and won the 2nd leg at
