The
SC Freiburg did not only change the coach in the winter break, they also replaced several players. So new coach Streich, former German U-19 champion with Freiburg, integrated several very young talents in his team. Considering that he has also lost top striker Pappis Cissé (9 goals) to Newcastle, it is quite questionable, if his side is able to remain in Bundesliga. The first match of the year was won 1:0 at home against bottom team Augsburg by a late goal, last Sunday they lost 1:3 in Mainz, where they had to play with ten men from the 5th minute. Freiburg have the worst defense of the league (42 conceded goals), could at least win three times at home (3-2-5).

Werder Bremen rely on young talents, had one of their youngest teams ever on the pitch last Saturday when played 1:1 against Leverkusen. And like Freiburg also Werder have a problem in defense, conceded 32 goals already, more than most teams in the relegation zone. But there is hope, the Greek Sokratis (23) and the Swiss winter signing Affolter (20) did very well in central defense recently, conceded just one goals in the two matches this year. Werder made only nine away points this season (2-3-5), could neither win in Augsburg (1:1) nor in Kaiserlautern (0:0). However, Bremen is still ranked 5th in the Bundesliga table and obviously must be favourite against the bottom side.
