Brazil faces in their second match at the
FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 on
USA (Thursday, 18. June 2009, 4:00 pm CET). With a victory the Selecao would make a big step to the semi-finals.
Record World Champion Brazil has won their first match (Group B) at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 against Egypt with 4:3. The Dunga-men won by a last minute goal of superstar Kaka. The midfielder scored by a penalty kick at the final minute.
USA had to accept in their opener a 1:3-defeat against the current FIFA World Champion Italy. The Americans went a goal ahead against the Azzurri (goal: Landon Donovan), however, in second half Giuseppe Rossi (2 goals) and Daniele De Rossi (1 goal) turned the match for the Italians. U.S.-midfielder Ricardo Clark was sending off in the 33rd minute after a heavy foul.
Historically there has never been a draw between the United States and Brazil. The Seleçao winning 12 of the 13 meetings between the two teams. The only win of the Americans was at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 1998.
