Nobody had expected it, and yet it happened: Italy lost their game against Egypt (0-1), the
first time Italy has been defeated by an african team... A very bitter defeat for the azzurri team of
Marcello Lippi, also because they could have won, or at least have made a draw, the occasions were there (especially for
Iaquinta), but if you don't score, you can't win a game.
Another problem has been the fact that (as in the game against the USA) Italy has practically offered the first half to the other team, who in this case has accepted the present and scored the decisive goal (40°,
Homos). In the second half, and especially after the arrival of
Toni and the youngster
Montolivo, the zzurri have played much better, created a lot of occasions but didnt manage to score. The heroe of the game (for the Pharaos) was their goalkeeper
El Harady (which in arab probably means Spider Man) who performed one miracle after the other.
The good news of the evening (which otherwise should better be quickly forgottn by the italians) were the second half and the good performances by some players like Montolivo or Pepe. The less good news is the fact that the azzurri now have to beat Brazil, and even that might not be enough to go to the next round (if there are three teams at 6 points, the difference of goals would be decisive). Unfortunately a team who is not able to beat Egypt will have big problems to beat the southamericans who, so far, have made two rather impressive games (4-3 against Egypt, 3-0 against the USA). Lets see how things are going, the perspectives arent too good for Italy but in football everything is possible, we have seen it yesterday.
In my opinion the azzurri will again give away the first half and will have to fight back in the second half. The brazilians will say thanks and score a goal in the first 45 minutes.
My tip is
1-0 for Brazil after the first half, the best odd for this result is on
