Dinamo Zagreb has started the competition in the second qualifying round, where they beat Pyunik Eriwan with a 3-0 aggregate win (0-0 away, 3-0 at home). In the first leg of the third qualifying round they reached a 1-1 draw against Red Bull Salzburg. Marijo Mandžukić, who scores the away goal in Salzburg, has been sent off (yellow-red card) in the injury time, and hence Mandžukić is not in the squad for the second leg. Red Bull Salzburg has eliminated in the second qualifying round the Irish champion Bohemian FC (2-1 aggregate win). But the performance in both matches was moderate.
