Red Bull Salzburg faces in the fourth and last qualifying round of UEFA Champions League on Maccabi Haifa. The Austrian champion RB Salzburg plays the first leg of the play-offs at home.
Austrian champion Red Bull Salzburg started the UEFA Champions League 2009-10 in the second qualifying round, where the Stevens-team beat Irish champion Bohemian FC (2-1 aggregate win). The winning goal in Dublin scored Patrik Jezek in the 86th minute, but the performance in both matches was moderate. Stronger they played in the third qualifying round against Dinamo Zagreb. After a 1-1 draw at home the Red Bulls won in Zagreb with 2-1 and advanced to the play-offs. Goal-getter Marc Janko - booked in the second leg against Dinamo Zagreb - is this time in the Salzburg squad.
Maccabi Haifa started the competition as well as Salzburg in the second qualifying round, where Haifa eliminated Glentoran FC with a 10-0 aggregate win. In the third qualifying round Maccabi Haifa showed a sensational comeback against FK Aktobe. Following a goalless away draw, Haifa were 3-0 down after just 15 minutes in the home match, but they battled back to win 4-3 at the end. The last two goals scored Vladimer Dvalishvili.
