After the huge Confederations Cup delusion and the 0-0 draw against Switzerland, the Squadra Azzurra will now play against Georgia at Tbilisi (saturday, 7 p.m.) for the first out of two World Cup 2010 qualification games Italy has to play during the next week (the second game will be against Bulgaria next wednesday in Turin). Italy is leading its qualification group with 14 points (followed by the team of Ireland coached by the italian legend Giovanni Trappatoni with 13 points but one game more than the italians) and for sure with two wins against Georgia and Bulgaria this week the boys of Marcello Lippi could make a huge step towards Southafrica. Georgia is currently the last team in their group, they only got 3 points out of 7 games thanks to three draws against Cyprus, Bulgaria and Macedonia and they also lost the first game against Italy with 0-2. All these facts seem to point at a victory of the Azzurri also in Tbilisi, but they have to be careful because the last games of the italian team were not really brilliant as well... Still Lippi's team should be able to beat the georgians of course.
Lippi's selection for the games against Georgia and Bulgaria:
Goalkeepers: Buffon, de Sanctis, Marchetti Defense: Cannavaro, Chiellini, Criscito, Grosso, Legrottaglie, Santon, Zambrotta Midfield: Camoranesi, D'Agostino, De Rossi, Marchionni, Marchisio, Palombo, Pepe, Pirlo Forward:di Natale, Gilardino, Iaquinta, Quagliarella, Rossi
In my opinion Italy will beat Georgia also in Tbilisi, my tip is 2, away victory for Italy, the best odd is on BetClick with 1,30
