This weekend the second round of this year's
ÖFB Stiegl Cup will be played. The probably most interesting fixture is on Sunday the match between
FAC and
Austria Vienna. FAC trainer is the former Austria player
Andreas Ogris, therefore it will be a special game for Ogris and his team.
FAC started the ÖFB cup in the preliminary round with a 2-0 win over Ostbahn XI followed by a 3-0 against Columbia Floridsdorf. In the first round they beat SC Fürstenfeld with 3-1. Now FAC faces on record cup-winner Austria Vienna, a very special game for FAC coach Andi Ogris, former Austria player and fan favourite at his active career. The FAC plays in the Regionalliga Ost (3. league) and take over the lead on Wednesday with a 3-1 home win against Mattersburg Amateure, but the second placed team Waidhofen/Ybbs have one game in hand. Best FAC goal scorer is Christopher Frank with 8 season goals.
Austria Vienna is the national cup specialist. Austria has won the ÖFB cup four times in a row and reached 6 times in a row the final. All together they have won 27 Austrian cup titles. In the first round of the current competition Austria Vienna beat SV Würmla with 4-0. Austria Vienna lost the last two regular matches. The 1-2 against Austria Kärnten followed on Thursday a 0-3 away defeat against Athletic Bilbao in the UEFA Europa League group stage. Not in squad for the cup match against FAC are Milenko Acimovic, Zlatko Junuzovic, Rubin Okotie and Matthias Hattenberger (all injured), and probably Petr Vorisek and Jacek Bak.
