Matchday 9 of the
German Bundesliga will be completed with the derby between
Borussia Dortmund and
VfL Bochum. In the league table both clubs are separated only by 1 point. Dortmund is twelfth, Bochum two ranks behind Borussia.
Borussia Dortmund started the Bundesliga season with a 1-0 home win over 1. FC Köln, followed by 3 draws and 3 defeats. Especially the both home defeats against Bayern München (1-5) and in the "Revierderby" against FC Schalke 04 (0-1) were disappointing. The last Bundesliga round brought a 1-0 away victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach and the first step out from the crisis. Now the third season win should succeed in the derby against VfL Bochum. BVB-coach Jürgen Klopp will have to pass on Kehl, Tinga and Hajnal.
As well as Dortmund also VfL Bochum had a moderate start in the 2009/10 season. After the 2-3 defeat on matchday 6 against FSV Mainz 05 coach Marcel Koller was sacked and the former assistent coach Frank Heinemann took over the training. At his debut Bochum lost in the DFB cup against Schalke 0-3. Better it runs in the Bundesliga. Bochum won 1-0 against 1. FC Nürnberg, followed by a 1-1 draw against champion VfL Wolfsburg. Against Dortmund coach Heinemann will have to pass on Ono, Imhof and Bönig.
Borussia Dortmund and VfL Bochum met 58-times in the Bundesliga. Dortmund won 22 games, Bochum 16 and 20 matches ended with a draw. Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp has never lost a match against Bochum - 5 wins and 1 draw.
