Hapoel Tel-Aviv welcomes
SK Rapid Vienna in the
UEFA Europa League group stage. Rapid is current leader in Group C and would make a significant step towards reaching the knockout phase, if they win the game in Israel. But Hapoel has won their opener fixture at the Bloomfield-Stadium against Celtic Glasgow 2-1 and so they are also against Rapid easy to favour.
Israels runner-up Hapoel Tel-Aviv qualified with aggregate wins over IFK Göteborg (4-2) and FK Teplice (3-2) for the UEFA Europa League group stage. On Matchday 1 Tel-Aviv beat Celtic Glasgow 2-1 through two late goals from Nemanja Vučićević (75.) and Maaran Lala (88.). The second group game in Hamburg against HSV got lost 2-4. In the national championship, the Ligat Ha'al, Hapoel Tel-Aviv faces rank 6, already 9 points behind league leader Maccabi Haifa. The last league game against FC Ashdod ended with a 2-2 home draw.
SK Rapid Vienna started the UEFA Europa League 2009/10 in the second qualifying round. They eliminated on their road to the group stage KS Vllaznia Shkoder (aggregate 8-0), APOP Kinyras Peyias (3:2 after extra time) and Aston Villa (2:2 on away goals). In the group stage opener Rapid beat Hamburger SV 3-0 and provided with it for a big surprise. The goals scored Steffen Hofmann, Nikica Jelavić and Christopher Drazan. On Matchday 2 Pacult´s side played 1-1 in Glasgow against Celtic, the Rapid goal scored Jelavić. The last round in the tipp3-Bundesliga brought a 0-1 defeat against Sturm Graz, so Rapid Vienna has fallen back on table rank 4.
Rapid Vienna coach Peter Pacult will have to pass on the injured players Hannes Eder and Markus Heikkinen. For Heikkinen probably Stefan Kulovits will come in the starting eleven.
