SK Rapid Vienna hosts
Hapoel Tel-Aviv on Matchday 4 of the
UEFA Europa League group stage. The first leg two weeks ago ended with a 5-1 win for Hapoel Tev-Aviv, where Hapoel was especially in the second half the dominating team. Now Rapid Vienna seeks revenge on Hapoel. Rapid is third of Group C with 4 points, Hapoel second with 6 points.
SK Rapid Vienna´s run in the UEFA Europa League was stopped on Matchday 3 with the 1-5 defeat against Hapoel Tel-Aviv. It was their first defeat in the group games. Rapid Vienna eliminated on their road to the group stage KS Vllaznia Shkoder (aggregate 8-0), APOP Kinyras Peyias (3:2 after extra time) and Aston Villa (2:2 on away goals). In the group stage opener Rapid beat Hamburger SV 3-0 and provided with it for a big surprise. The goals scored Steffen Hofmann, Nikica Jelavić and Christopher Drazan. On Matchday 2 Pacult´s side played 1-1 against Celtic Glasgow, through a Jelavić goal. And then the Green-Whites were without a chance at the 1-5 defeat versus Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Their reaction on the 1-5 was nearly perfect. SK Rapid Vienna won 3 league games in a row, against SV Mattersburg (4-0), Austria Kärnten (3-1) und SV Ried (1-0), and so they are already second in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Israels runner-up Hapoel Tel-Aviv qualified with aggregate wins over IFK Göteborg (4-2) and FK Teplice (3-2) for the UEFA Europa League group stage. Tel-Aviv started the group phase with a 2-1 over Celtic Glasgow, followed by a 2-4 in Hamburg against group favourite HSV. On Matchday 3 followed the impressive 5-1 home win over SK Rapid Vienna, where Hapoel dominated especially the second half and scored 4 goals through Zurab Menteshashvili (54.), Etey Shechter (59.), Gil Vermouth (69.) and Maaran Lala (90.). In the national championship, the Ligat Ha'al, Hapoel Tel-Aviv won their last 2 league games and moved forward on table rank 2.
