Football, Champions League, Group H: FC Arsenal vs AZ Alkmaar

Arsenal sit at the top of the UEFA Champions League Group H table with 7 points from 3 games. A win over AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday evening at Emirates Stadium will put The Gunners through to the knock out stages.

Arsenal are coming off a comfortable 3-0 win over Totenham at the weekend which should give them an extra boost of confidence for the Champions League clash against AZ. The Gunners, however, have a rather poor record against Dutch opposition, posting only two victories in seven matches. In the reverse fixture against AZ, on matchday 3, Cesc Fàbregas gave The Gunners a 36th-minute lead, only for David Mendes da Silva to volley an equalizer in the third minute of added time. The draw leaves Arsenal on seven points, one clear of Olympiacos FC and five above third-placed AZ. Arsen Wenger´s men will be keen to make sure that there will be no late equalizer this time around, when the two teems meet at Emirates Stadium.

AZ meanwhile started the season in spectacular fashion, crushing SC Heerenveen 5-1. They then went on to win four in a row, but have since run into some really poor form, with the win against Groningen being only one of two victories in the last month. The Dutch titleholders are very much an all or nothing side, with their 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the reverse fixture their only drawn game of the season so far.
