On wednesday there will be held
the last round of Group L in the UEFA Europe League and the game between the both winless teams of CD Nacional Funchal and FK Austria Wien. For both teams there is no chance to climb up to the next round but there is still one game where both teams could take the first win during this group stage.
CD Nacional Funchal vs FK Austria Wien
Wednesday, 16th of december 2009, 09:05 pm
Estadio Rui Alves, Funchal (Madeira)
FK Austria Wien had to take a very hard defeat against Atletic Bilbao on the last matchday at the UEFA Europe League. At the 0:3 Austria Wien was the better team until Bilbao scored the 2:0 after the second disastrous decision. After this goal there was heavy riots and a pitch invasion in the austrian Horr Stadion followed by a 20 minute break. The high peak followed with the 3:0 when the norwegian referee gave a goal after a clear offside.
At the championshiop Austria Wien could play the last 2 games - both of foreign ground - with success. Against SV Ried (2:0) and SK Sturm Graz (2:2) Austria could win 4 points.
The portugues squad had to accept a hard 1:4 defeat on the 5th gameday at the UEFA Europe League versus SV Werder Bremen. With this defeat it was clear, that the spring of the Europe League will be held without Nacional Funchal.
At the home championship Nacinal lost on the last weekend at Pacos de Ferreira and is facing rank 4, 8 points behind FC Porto and 10 behind Sporting Braga and Benfica Lisboa.
