The Spanish club Villarreal CF cannot catch Group G winners FC Red Bull Salzburg but they can ensure the Austrian side do not finish the UEFA Europa League group stage with the maximum on points. Villarreal CF has won the last two group games and qualified therewith for the knockout-stage. First they beat Lazio Rome in the direct duel 4-1 followed by a 2-0 away victory over Levski Sofia. In the Primera Division Villarreal CF faces rank 10. The only defeat at the "El Madrigal" was on 23 September, 2009 against Real Madrid (0-2). In the Europa League Villarreal has won all their home games.
Red Bull Salzburg dominated their Europa League Group G and won all 5 group games so far. The Red Bulls are also the only club with the maximum on points. Salzburg started with a 2-1 at Rome against Lazio followed by a 2-0 at home over Villarreal. Then the Stevens men beat Levski Sofia twice with 1-0. On Matchday 5 Salzburg celebrated a 2-1 home win over S.S. Lazio and qualified therewith for the knockout-stage. So they are seeded for Friday's round of 32 draw. In the national championship the Red Bulls are second 2 points behind leader SK Rapid Vienna. The last round brought a 1-0 at home against table last Austria Kärnten.
