The Cottagers will challenge Pompey at home in hopes of jumping to the top half of the Premier League table. Pompey continue their uphill struggle to beat the odds and escape relegation. After a remarkable start the season,
Fulham FC have started the second half with 4 straight losses. Although 6 points above the relegation zone, a win here would help put
Roy Hodgson's mind at ease. The extra 3 points would allow the manager to focus on the upcoming Europa League matches. He will have some selection problems with the injury absences of Johnson, Dempsey, Pantsil and Konchesky. Striker Bobby Zamora has returned from a shoulder injury and will be a big boost for Fulham's attack. Fulham are currently 6-2-3 at Craven Cottage and have averaged 1.36 goals against 0.73 goals conceded.
Despite their poor run of form in the Premiership, Pompey has done surprisingly well in the FA Cup. This has not done much to raise spirits at the club.
Younes Kaboul was just sold back to Tottenham and keeper Asmir Begovic looks to be right behind him. The south-England club is trying to avoid bankruptcy and this is hurting the players' motivation on the pitch. Portsmouth's results have been no better. Currently sitting last in the Premiership, they are 6 points away from relegation safety. Papa Bouba Diop and Michael Brown remain injury concerns. Portsmouth have lost 8 matches while away this season and this Wednesday should be no different.
Fulham have been struggling lately, but their squad has more than enough quality to turn this around. At home they are very strong in defense and have given some stellar performances this year. On the other hand
Portsmouth have been very poor on the travels, and their seeming lack of motivation almost makes this match a foregone conclusion.
