This Sunday the 22nd round of the German Bundesliga brings the classic duel between Schalke 04 and 1. FC Cologne.
After a successful performance in the Cup quarter-finals at the third division team VfL Osnabrück (1-0), now the daily routine of the Bundesliga in Gelsenkirchen returns. Despite the draw in Freiburg (0:0), the "Königsblauen" (Royal Blues) claim confident in third place, which entitles the right to participate in the UEFA Champions League qualifying. Meanwhile unbeaten in seven games, the "Knappen" are three points behind the top two Bayer Leverkusen / Bayern Munich.
Unlike the situation in Cologne, where during the week the second division team FC Augsburg eliminated the "Geißböcke" (Billy goats) from the DFB-Cup (0:2). Also caused troubles involving star striker Lukas Podolski, who saw the yellow-red card just nine minutes after his substitution. In contrast to the glaring weakness in home matches, out of town the FC presents its better side. Currently, the 1. FC Cologne ranks on the fifth place in away standings, with a record of four wins and draws as well as two defeats.
