This Thursday the afreshed UEFA Europe League will be continued with the round of the last 32. While it comes to the German-Dutch-clash between Hamburger SV and PSV Eindhoven.
Again it's going relatively well for HSV in the German Bundesliga. Thanks to the away win at VfB Stuttgart, the club of the Hanseatic city could claim the fourth position in the league and expand the lead over the chasing trio of Dortmund, Bremen and Frankfurt. Especially new signing Ruud van Nistelrooy, who came during the winter break from the Spanish record champion Real Madrid, could play on his second appearance in the dress of Hamburg into the limelight. The Dutchman scored both match-winning goals. Now the 33-year-old approaches a duel with his former club Eindhoven, for whom van Nistelrooy scored in 67 games - believe it or not - 62 Goals.
As in previous years, PSV Eindhoven used to be the measure of all things in the Dutch Eredivisie. During the past season to be seen as a gaffe - the Philips-club finished only on the disappointing fourth place - now the 21-times champion is top of the league again. Apart from the proven players like skipper Timmy Simmons and defender Andre Ooijer, stands out above all in attack Ola Toivonen / Balázs Dzsudzsák. Together the offense-duo scored so far 21 goals in the league. No longer in the squad is the Brazilian talent Jonathan Reis, after he demonstrated the use of banned substances, and any professional help on the part of the 20-year-old has been rejected.
