What a game! The teams of
Olympique Lyonnais and
Girondins de Bordeaux played on a great level in the first match of the last eight in the
Champions League. The seven times champion of France profited of his experience in this competition and won 3:1 after the goals of
Lisandro López and
Michael Bastos. On the other side the Bordelais weren't so strong in the defense as they had shown in the group stage.
On Saturday, the two teams had different results in the Ligue 1. The players of Olympique Lyonnais won 2:1 at Rennes and made the step on the first place in the French championship, because the leader lost 1:2 in the home game against Nancy. But the team of coach
Laurent Blanc has even two games less. Totally it was noticeable, that the Girondins de Bordeaux aren't on their best niveau at the moment.
Nevertheless the Bordelais are the favorits to win the second match on Wednesday. Concerning the step to the semifinals that are the Lyonnais who have two goals advantage. Anyway it will be the first time that a French team is under the last four in the Champions League.
