Harry Redknapp's crew are currently in the driver's seat of those challening for a top four finish. With a game in hand, Tottenham have the opportunity to go 3 points ahead of their nearest competitors with only 3 matches to play. The true test will come next week when Spurs travel to Eastlands to vie with 6th place Manchester City, who are also looking to claim a European spot. However, the Citizens are facing 5th place Aston Villa on Saturday and a loss by either side will almost certainly knock them out of the top four hunt.
Redknapp is aware of this and will want to capitalize against
Bolton before next week's road match against City.
Tottenham come into this game after a good run against big four opposition. 2-1 victories against Chelsea and Arsenal eventually gave way to a 3-1 defeat to United, however. Redknapp's men have only conceded 12 goals this season and hold the best record in the Premiership.
Aaron Lennon is fit once again and came off the bench last week at Old Trafford. Redknapp will most likely start him in a right-wing role against the Trotters. Ledley King is struggling to get fit for the match and reports suggest that Redknapp may take the risk and start the English defender in such an important match.
Bolton's new boss
Owen Coyle has been praised after assuring the safety of his club when they were serious relegation contenders. Wanderers are currently in 14th place and have no chance to finish higher with a 7 point gap between them and Stoke City with only 2 matches left to play.
Bolton's players have nothing left to fight for this season and this should play into their motivation for this match. At home they are playing for the fans but an away match at White Hart Lane is a different story.
Harry Redknapp will field a squad determined to defend their current spot in the table. Since both Chelsea and United are playing on Sunday, all eyes will be on Tottenham in an equally important bid for 4th place.
