Group A: Mexico vs Uruguay

Football - World Cup 2010 - 2010-06-22
Match preview
Last matchday in Group A: Mexico meets Uruguay at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. Both teams have a good chance to advance to the Round of 16. At the moment Mexico and Uruguay leads Group A with four points so they need just a draw in the direct duel to qualify for the knock out phase.

Mexico started the tournament with a 1:1 draw against hosts South Africa. In the second group game the Mexicans celebrated a 2:0 win over France and so they made a big step to advance to the Round of 16. The goals scored Javier Hernandez (64.) and Cuauhtemoc Blanco (79., penalty). Coach Javier Aguirre will have to pass on Carlos Vela (injured) and Efraín Juárez (booked).

As well as Mexico also Uruguay needs one point to advance to the knock out stage. La Celeste started the FIFA WC 2010 with a goalless draw against France followed by a 3:0 win over South Africa. Match winner was Diego Forlan. The 31-years-old offensive player has scored two goals. The third goal was scored by Alvaro Pereira.
