The first round of
Austria´s tipp3-Bundesliga brings on Sunday the fixture between
FC Wacker Innsbruck and
SK Rapid Vienna at the
Tivoli Stadium. Probably the most interesting match in this round.
After two years FC Wacker Innsbruck will be back in Austria´s football Bundesliga. Wacker starts their comeback season with a home match against record champion SK Rapid Vienna. Innsbruck have lost just two of their 17 home matches in the last season (13-2-2). From the new players especially defender Iñaki Bea Jauregi could convince in the test matches.
SK Rapid Vienna starts just three days after the Europa League game at FK Suduva Marijampole in the new Bundesliga season. Rapid´s league opener will be the away match against FC Wacker Innsbruck. The last season brought six away wins in 18 matches (6-8-4). Pacult´s side have collected in away games seven points less than Salzburg and four points less than Austria. So Rapid finished the previous season just on rank 3.

Wacker Innsbruck counts as home strong. The fixture against Rapid will be probably sold out. Rapid have three days before the Europa League match at FK Suduva in Lithuania, anything but a relaxing journey. So I see here pros for Innsbruck. Referee will be Robert Schörgenhofer.
Last meeting: 29.03.2008, Rapid Vienna – Wacker Innsbruck 4:1
Wins Wacker Innsbruck: 38
Wins Rapid Vienna: 53
Draws: 38
Rapid have to play the Europa League game in Lithuania just three days before, so I see here good chances for Wacker Innsbruck to reach at least a draw.
