In the second round of
Swiss Super League the traditional local derby between
FC Zurich and the
Grasshoppers Zurich will be played on Sunday afternoon.
The FC Zurich lost their first match 2:3 at the champions FC Basel, but they played well, led twice and were highly praised after the match. The squad of the FCZ was improved in all parts, several new players are already integrated into the starting team and they now belong to the top teams of the Super League again. FC Zürich has won the last eleven home matches of this local derby!
Grasshoppers Zurich had to release six of their best players before the start of the season and couldn't replace them equivalent. So they played only 1:1 in their first match at home against Xamax Neuchatel. In fact fresh offensive football was testified to them, but weakness to score and problems in their defence were also obvious.

Normally the stadium Letzigrund is the home ground of the FC Zurich only. But because the stadium of the Grasshoppers was closed in 2007, they must play their home matches in the disliked Letzigrund. Despite of a local derby, FC Zurich has an home advantage here.
