Omonia Nicosia hosts
Red Bull Salzburg during the
3.Round of the UEFA Champions League qualification. While Nicosia was able to win both qualification games in the second round, Salzburg just won the game at home and lost in Torshavn. The game takes place in the Neo GSP Stadium of Nicosia and starts at 6 pm.
Salzburg made a good game against Torshavn in their own stadium and they won with 5:0. But in the lost the second leg with 0:1 and this was one of the most embarrassing games from Salzburg. Also in the Austrian Bundesliga they don't showed us how good they were able to play. The first game against Kapfenberg ended with a 0:0 drawn. Salzburg must wait for the first game in the Bundesliga at home because the game against Wacker Innsbruck was cancelled because of rain. Omonia Nicosia is the champion of the Cypriot league and the eliminated the champion from Macedonia, FK Renova with a finale score from 5:0.

Nicosia isn't an unknown team in Austria because the team from Cyprus played two times against a club from Austria in an international tournament. The first game was against Fc Tirol were Nicosia was kicked out with a final result from 9:2 in the season 1989/90. About 10 years later they were eliminated by Rapid Wien. Joaquín Boghossian, the new striker from Salzburg will probably make his first game for Salzburg. While Simon Cziommer broke his leg, Somen Tchoyi and Christian Schwegler are fit again.
This is the first game between this clubs.
It will be a hard for Salzburg to beat the champion from Cyprus and I don't think that it will be decided in Nicosia which club will reach the next round.
