In the third round of the
Champions League qualification the Hungarian champion
Debreceni VSC meets the Swiss champion
FC Basel on Wednesday evening.
Last season Debreceni incredibly qualified for the Champions League. After they had beaten Levski Sofia in the play-offs, they couldn't make a single point in the group stage. The championship hasn't started yet in Hungary, but Debreceni has already played two matches for Champions League qualification, where they defeated the Estonian champion FC Levadia with 1:1 and 3:2 (at home). Last month Debreceni was suspected of manipulation by the UEFA, two of their players were banned.
After two wins Basel is already on top of the table again in Swiss Super League. Their squad was well improved to defend the title and qualify for the Champions League. Last season Basel finished close behind Fulham and Roma in the group stage of Europa League.

Last season Debreceni made international experience on high level, but against a qualitatively better Basel that is full of confidence, they are only outsiders. Basel shouldn't leave the pitch as loser.
