4th Round: SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz versus SK Rapid Wien

Football - Austria - Bundesliga - 2010-08-08
Match preview

The 4th round of Austria´s tipp3-Bundesliga brings on Sunday the top game between SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz and SK Rapid Wien. Sturm is unbeaten in the running season and current on rank 2 while Rapid is with 1 win and 2 defeats only on rank 7.

Strum Graz have lost some important key players during the transfer time like Beichler, Jantscher, Hlinka, Sonnleitner and Lavric, however their start in the Bundesliga season was nearly perfect. Foda´s side are table second and equal on points with leader SC Magna Wr. Neustadt. The results in the first three rounds: 3:0 vs Ried (a), 2:0 vs Kapfenberg (h) and 2:2 vs Wacker Innsbruck (a). In the UEFA Europa League Sturm Graz advanced to the play-offs after an 3:1 aggregate win over FC Dinamo Tbilisi.

SK Rapid Wien started the Bundesliga season with two defeats – 0:4 at Wacker Innsbruck and 1:2 at home versus SC Magna Wr. Neustadt. The last round brought a 2:1 home win over champion Red Bull Salzburg and at the same time the first points in the running championship. The win against Salzburg was very important for their confidence. On Tuesday Pacult´s side celebrated a 3:0 at home against Beroe Stara Zagora and so they advanced to the Europa League play-offs.

Conditions/Referee

Sturm Graz played on Thursday the Europa League match in Georgia at Dinamo Tbilisi, anything but a relaxing journey. Rapid had their Europa League match already on Tuesday. So I see here pros for Rapid Wien. Referee will be Dietmar Drabek.

Betting tip/prediction

Rapid Wien collected much confidence through their wins over Salzburg and Beroe Stara Zagora. Furthermore they have two more days to prepare for the top game against Sturm Graz. My tip: Win Rapid Wien.
