On upcoming Wednesday Austria welcomes Switzerland in an international friendly match at Klagenfurt. For both teams an important test match before the EURO 2012 qualification.
Austria could not qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa, but their performances in some qualification games were really good. So the aim of head coach Didi Constantini is to qualify for the EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. The friendly game against Switzerland is Austria´s last test before the EURO 2012 qualification, where Constantini´s side faces in Group A on Germany, Turkey, Belgium, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
Switzerland provided at the FIFA World Cup 2010 for a big surprise. The team of coach Ottmar Hitzfeld started the tournament with a 1:0 win over Spain. But then followed a 0:1 versus Chile and a goalless draw against Honduras. So Switzerland finished their group as third und didn’t qualify for the Round of 16. But the Swiss were the only team at the WC 2010 which has beaten World champion Spain.
