Two traditional clubs will meet on Saturday in the first round of
German Cup. While St.Pauli just got back to Bundesliga, the Chemnitzer FC remains in the Regionalliga Nord.
Once the
Chemnitzer FC played in the European Cup, named FC Karl Marx Stadt that days. The club has developed many good players in the past, first of all Michael Ballack. Meanwhile they only play in the 4th Division where they played 1:1 at VFC Plauen in their opening match last Saturday. Lately the Saxons rely on local German players and qualified for the DFB-Pokal by wins against Dynamo Dresden and Erzgebirge Aue.
After eight years of absence the FC St.Pauli is back to Bundesliga, but has done only selective changes on their squad. The both most important new players Asamoah and Volz will not play in Chemnitz because of injury. Morale and their strong offensive football are the strengths of the team, that got far the best offence in last seasons 2.Bundesliga with 72 goals.
