1st Round: Manchester United - Newcastle United

Football - England - Premier League - 2010-08-16
Match preview
Former champions Newcastle United begin their rebuilding campaign at Old Trafford, where they will meet the ever in-form Manchester United. Newcastle were able to make the return to the Premiership in the first season after being painfully relegated two years ago. New Manager Chris Houghton has brought in some new signings to help keep them in the top-flight: Sol Campbell from Arsenal, Dan Gosling from Everton and James Perch from Nottingham Forest.

Sir Alex and the team must feel confident after taking care of Chelsea tidily in the Community Shield. New striker Javier Hernandez got one in and appears to be the favorite for pairing up with Wayne Rooney. United had mixed results during their North American pre-season tour, but the 3-1 victory over Chelsea will have the team high on spirits.

Betting tip/prediction
Newcastle are once again in the Premiership, but just 7 years ago this team was winning championships. The rebuilding process begins with Chris Houghton and the fans will demand he give results. A good result away to Manchester is a draw. The Red Devils are high on confidence after their 3-1 thrashing of Chelsea FC and will play confidently. Both teams will get good chances and my money will be on Manchester and overs.

Tip: Manchester United to win and Over 2.5 goals.
