The opening round of the
German Bundesliga brings on Saturday the fixture between
1899 Hoffenheim and
SV Werder Bremen. Both teams started the new season with a 4:0 win in the first DFB cup round.
1899 Hoffenheim finished the 2009/10 season on rank 11. The expectations for the new season are a better position than in the previous season. Hoffenheim´s squad is similar to the last season. The best known player who has left the team is keeper Timo Hildebrand. New in the team are keeper Tom Starke (MSV Duisburg) and the 19-year-old forward Peniel Mlapa (TSV 1860 München). 1899 Hoffenheim started the season with a 4:0 win in the first DFB cup round at Hansa Rostock through goals from Vedad Ibišević (2), Demba Ba and new player Peniel Mlapa.
As well as Hoffenheim also SV Werder Bremen started the new season with a 4:0 win in the DFB cup. Bremen eliminated Rot-Weiss Ahlen through goals from Claudio Pizarro, Hugo Almeida, Tim Borowski and Marko Marin. The cup match at Rot-Weiss Ahlen was at the same time the last game for Mesut Özil in the Werder jersey. The DFB team player transferred this week to Real Madrid. The first match after the Özil transfer ended on Wednesday with a 3:1 win for Werder Bremen over Sampdoria (Champions League play-off).

Werder Bremen played in contrast to Hoffenheim an important match in the UEFA Champions League under the week. But just at the beginning of a season a lot of games can be even an advantage, because then the team comes faster to the play rhythm.

1899 Hoffenheim have never won against Werder Bremen (1 draw, 4 defeats). This series will continue but I think that Hoffenheim reaches a draw. My tip:
