Football - Germany - Bundesliga - 2010-08-28
Match preview

The 2nd round of the German Bundesliga brings on Saturday the fixture between VfL Wolfsburg and 1. FSV Mainz 05. Wolfsburg has lost their opener at Bayern München with 1:2, while FSV Mainz started with a 2:0 at home over VfB Stuttgart.

The opener fixture of the Bundesliga 2010/11 brought VfL Wolfsburg a 1:2 defeat at Bayern München. The performance of the new Wolfsburg team was especially in the second half very strong. Goalgetter Edin Dzeko has scored the goal for Wolfsburg. Coach McClaren will have to pass on new player Arne Friedrich. The 31-year-old central defender was operated on Thursday after suffering a slipped disc. How long the former Hertha BSC defender will be out for remains to be seen.

The previous season 2009/10 was the best for FSV Mainz in history. Tuchel´s side finished the season on rank 9. Especially in the home matches they were very strong. This year FSV Mainz started with a 2:0 at home over VfB Stuttgart through goals from new entrants Sami Allagui and Morten Rasmussen. With Lewis Holtby and Christian Fuchs two other new Mainz players were in the starting eleven. Fuchs played a very strong match as left defender and was called in the “Kicker Elf des Tages”.
