6th round: LASK Linz versus SK Rapid Wien

Football - Austria - Bundesliga - 2010-08-29
Match preview

On Sunday LASK Linz hosts SK Rapid Wien in the 6th round of Austria´s tipp3-Bundesliga. After the performances in this season the guests from Vienna are favourites.

LASK Linz made a disastrous season start. They have lost their five league games so far and are after five rounds without points. Keeper Thomas Mandl has collected 13 goals against. The offensive was harmless, in four of their matches LASK scored no goal. So coach Helmut Kraft have reacted on this weakness and engaged two new midfielders with Emin Sulimani and Klodian Duro.

SK Rapid Wien wants to continue their run with an away win at LASK Linz. The Green-Whites have won their last three league games - 2:1 vs RB Salzburg, 2:0 vs Sturm Graz and 2:0 vs Mattersburg. Furthermore they advanced to the UEFA Europa League group stage with a 3:2 win at Aston Villa on Thursday (first leg 1:1). Altogether Pacult´s side is unbeaten since seven competitive games (6 wins, 1 draw).

Conditions/Referee

The Linzer Gugl will be well filled and many rapid fans will support their team also in Linz. Rapid has played six matches more than LASK in this season. Especially the away game on Thursday at Aston Villa was strength-sapping. On the other side the win over Aston Villa brought a lot of confidence. So I see here no pros for any team. For referee Manfred Krassnitzer it becomes the first fixture in the running Bundesliga season.

Head-to-Head

Wins SK Rapid Wien: 75

Betting tip/prediction

After the performances in this season anything but a Rapid win would be a surprise. Rapid could not win at LASK in previous season (3:3, 2:4). Due to Rapid´s hard Europa League game on Thursday I think that LASK have a good chance to reach a draw. My tip: Draw.
