The
294th edition of the Viennese derby on Sunday between
SK Rapid Wien and
FK Austria Wien will be the top match of the
7th round in Austria´s tipp3-Bundesliga.
Rapid Wien´s winning streak has stopped in the last match before the internationals break. The Green-Whites conceded a 0:1 defeat at LASK Linz. Certainly a backstroke after three wins in the league and the achieving of the UEFA Europa League group stage. In the derby on Sunday against Austria new signing Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink will give his debut in the Rapid jersey. The 31-year-old Dutch forward should compensate Nikica Jelavic who has left the club to join Glasgow Rangers last month.
After the good season start Austria Wien´s form curve showed downwards in the last weeks. Daxbacher´s side has not won the last four league games, in the table they are fallen back on rank 6. The last round before the internationals break brought a 0:3 at home against promoted team FC Wacker Innsbruck. Furthermore they retired in the Europa League play-offs against Aris Thessaloniki.
