Steve McClaren, the first English coach in the
Bundesliga, had a bad start and is already under big pressure in the
Niedersachsen-derby against Hannover 96 on Saturday.
The most expensive squad of their history has the
VfL Wolfsburg, 38 million euros were invested only in new players this season. But they couldn't profit from it so far, with nil points out of three games Wolfsburg had the worst start since 1956. The defensive system of the new coach McClaren hasn't reached the players yet, so in the derby against Hannover he possibly returns to the old 4-4-2 system, which will rather suit the offensive top-players Diego and Dzeko.
A surprising good season plays
Hannover 96 so far. The victories against Frankfurt and at Schalke followed another strong match against Leverkusen (2:2) last Saturday, where Hannover got the equalizer with ten men in the last minute. Coach Mirko Slomka trusts several new and young players and so has developed a new team spirit in his squad, that convinces especially with its high dedication.
