Last matchday in the group stage of the UEFA Cup. The top game of group E is AC Milan against VfL Wolfsburg (
Wednesday, 17.12.2008, 8:45 pm). Both teams are already qualified for the round of last 32. Wolfsburg passes a draw for the group victory, Milan must win.
AC Milan has started as group favorite and has won the first both matches – against SC Heerenveen and Sporting Braga. In the away match against Porthmouth it was enough to a 2:2-draw. The "Rossoneri" already dated back with 0:2, before Ronaldinho (84th minute) and Filippo Inzaghi (90th minute) scored with late goals. Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti must renounce Alessandro Nesta and Gennaro Gattuso (both injured).
Wolfsburg has won present three matches in the UEFA Cup group stage. With a draw against Milan Wolfsburg can protect the first rank. But Wolfsburg has a bad series in away matches. In the German Bundesliga the team of Felix Magath is without an away victory this season (4 draws, 5 defeats). On last Saturday Wolfsburg lost in Bremen with 1:2. Against AC Milan Vlad Munteanu and probably also Grafite (both injured) are not in squad.
