Qualification FIFA World Cup 2010 - AFC (Asia)
In the Continental Zone of Asia (AFC) the qualification occurs in a total of 5 rounds. 43 nations take part in the qualification for FIFA World Cup. The best 5 teams of the FIFA ranking are automatically qualified for the 3rd round. After three preliminary rounds, ten Asian teams are currently playing the fourth round which consists of two groups of five teams. The two group winners and the two group runners-up will qualify direct for the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa. The third-placed teams from each group will play a home-and-away play-off, and the winner advance to the inter-confederation play-off against the winner of the Oceanian Zone.
