Will Klopp come to Premier League next season?

In modern times, the success of a club is heavily linked with the qualities of the manager. It is very important to neutralize the diversities of the squad and integrate the varying personalities to achieve on-field success. Sounds easy on the paper but every manager worth his salt will vouch that this is a huge task; which is why it is rare to find a successful coach regularly. Jurgen Klopp is a definite pick in this pack.

Klopp may not always get the same attention and reverence as some of his contemporaries. Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola are considered to be master tacticians of the modern generation. Klopp, over his time at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund has earned the right to be put in the same bracket. And so, when Klopp has announced his intention to leave Dortmund, it left many clubs glancing with anticipation.

Klopp is credited with shaping the fortunes of Dortmund by guiding them from the brink of meltdown to the heights of challenging the domination of Bayern Munich. Winning the German Bundesliga for two seasons in succession (2010-11 and 2011-12) would definitely rank the best in his tenure. He guided the club to the finals of UEFA Champions League in 2012-13.

Klopp’s success with the club goes beyond the titles. He’s masterminded the development of many young players at the club. Mats Hummels, Shinji Kagawa, Marco Reus, Ilkay Gundogan, Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski – the list would be endless. Bayern could only watch helplessly as he stitched success for Dortmund.

But, the growing discomfort of being an eternal bridesmaid to Bayern seems to have taken a toll on Klopp. He has watched his best talent leave the club and in the case of Gotze and Lewandowski, strengthen Bayern. The continuous frustration at seeing the financial might of Bayern weakening his team meant that Klopp is now ready for a new challenge.

This makes it interesting for all the clubs who are looking for a new manager or are ready to welcome him with open arms. Klopp, at various points of his career, was linked to Manchester United and Arsenal; in fact, he continues to be linked so. Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester City have joined the list of suitors after his availability. The slide under Manuel Pellegrini meant that City could be looking for a new manager at the end of this season. The best odds of Klopp filling that vacancy are offered at 2,30 by Bwin.

Arsenal always viewed Klopp as a potential successor to Arsene Wenger and so the odds of 4,75 on Klopp ending at Arsenal next season, offered by Bwin aren’t a great surprise. If you are willing to read between the lines, Liverpool could also be lured at the prospect of landing Klopp – offered at odds of 8,00 by Betway. Barcelona may have settled a little in the recent times but the pressure is still not off Luis Enrique. Klopp is offered great odds of 13,00 by Bwin to end up at Nou Camp.

The tussle for Klopp will unfold as the season winds up to an end. Managers of his caliber and proven success are rare to find. It is very tricky to call where he could end up next season.
