Where will Gareth Bale play next season?

Big signings typically galvanize a club. The squad tends to lift their performance on the field; the fans tend to find a new hero to rally around and more importantly, results follow. Ronaldinho did the same at Barcelona; all the Galacticos did that at Real Madrid; Yaya Toure did that at Manchester City. No wonder then that clubs circle around the globe to find their next talisman; that one signing which will give them a new direction.

For some analysts, it is too early to call Gareth Bale a talisman – someone in the same breath as Cristiano Ronaldo. But, the Welshman has already raised many eyebrows by moving to Real Madrid in September 2013. The transfer fees is something of an enigma with the Spanish press claiming €91 million while the British press claimed the transfer fee to be €100 million which would be above Ronaldo’s fee.

Huge transfer fees precede heavy expectations. Bale was expected to hit the ground running at Madrid by fans. Like many of his illustrious predecessors, he found the going tough – both on and off the field. His spectacular solo goal in the Copa Del Rey final, however, gave a glimpse of his huge talent. He capped it up with another goal in the UEFA Champions League final.

But, Madrid fans are tough to please and are ever-demanding. This season saw more than one instance of a section of the fans booing him. The booing continued and the strain was there to see. The performances dipped and the pressure kept mounting. Though there were public disclosures that he wants to stay at Madrid and fight for his spot, the rumor mill kept ringing linking him with various clubs.

There is no doubt that Bale is one of the most talented midfielders. He would definitely walk into any team and make it better. The odds of Bale staying at Real Madrid are 1,20 as offered by Unibet. However, the odds market is also betting heavily on his transfer back to Premier League. At odds of 3,90 offered by Unibet, Bale is expected to wear the Red Shirt of Manchester United next season.

However, champions-elect Chelsea is also not far from bidding for the talented Welsh man. At odds of 9,00 offered by Betfair, you can find him at Chelsea next season. Not many teams can afford Bale which leaves us with just Bayern Munich, Manchester City and PSG. At odds of 21,00 offered by Unibet, Bale is expected to don the colors of Bayern next season while the odds of going to PSG or Manchester City are offered by Unibet at 15,00

It is not often that proven talent comes on the transfer market. The stakes are very high because of the huge transfer fees he will command. However this can change quickly if Real decide to buy another star and are open to sell the Welsh man. Bale is one of those players who will increase the expectations of fans and fellow players. No wonder that money bags around the world are trying their best to get his attention and his signature. This transfer saga is sure to hog the headlines till summer; and if nothing materializes, beyond summer.
