AS Roma vs Ajax, Europa League 15.04.2021

AS Roma welcome Eredivisie leaders Ajax to the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday, as they look to build on their terrific win in the Netherlands in the first leg to claim a place in the semi-finals of the Europa League.

We will explore Livescorebet review for our betting tips here.

Despite a less than stellar performance at the Johan Cruijff Arena last Thursday, Roma made the most of their opportunities to claim a comeback 2-1 win, and in the process inflicted the first loss of the year on the Dutch giants.

Roma have struggled in the domestic league with inconsistencies. At the weekend, though, they edged Bologna by a single Borja Mayoral goal, a win that still leaves them seventh in the standings, which is outside the European football places.

The Giallorossi’s could well train their guns on this competition as a possible savior for their season but they still have work to do here against Ajax who clearly were the better team despite the loss in that first leg.

Ajax wasted numerous opportunities in that first leg and that ultimately came back to haunt them as defensive errors on their end gifted Roma with two goals which they duly obliged to escape with a 2-1 victory leaving Ajax windering what could have been. That loss ended their unbeaten home streak of 15 Europa League games and was their first loss all year in any competition.

There is still the belief within the team that they can turn this around. That will however not be a walk in the park as Roma have largely been solid in the backyard this season. They did however expose them defensively in that first leg even though they failed to make those chances count.

With no fans, Ajax will certainly fancy their chances to still make the semis by turning the tide here.

Despite the first leg loss, Ajax were by far the better team. They had two-thirds of the possession and created far more chances than the visitors. They were very much in control of all facets of the game before giving away two cheap goals thanks to defensive blunders. We expect a much more focused and disciplined approach to this game here we feel they have what it takes turn it around here. Like we have seen so many times this season, home and away counts for little when there are no supporters to roar their teams to victory. With this in mind, therefore, we are backing Ajax to pick up the win here @ 2.30 as our initial football betting tip.

Betting tip AS Roma vs Ajax

With so much on the line, we expect a competitive encounter here with both teams looking to book a date against the winner of the United/Granada tie in the semi-finals. Like they did in the first leg, Ajax is likely to have the lion’s share of possession as they look to put the hosts under pressure from the get-go. They are likely to be more clinical if they get similar chances as they did last time and we feel there is value in backing the to score 2 or more goals @ 1.90.
